At least four parachutists were killed and four badly injured in a small plane crash in southwestern Siberia, Russian media reported Saturday.
The crew had sent a distress signal before the twin-engine L-410 went down in a forest near the Tanay aerodrome, which offers parachuting services, Russia’s TASS news agency reported, according to Reuters.

A search-and-rescue operation was underway and the injured were being airlifted to hospitals, a Siberian civil aviation official and medical services spokesperson told Reuters.
Reuters initially reported seven people had died, citing TASS.
