An earthquake of magnitude 6.5 hit Jalisco, Mexico, a few minutes past noon on Thursday.
The epicenter was located 172 miles west of the city of Cihuatlan, according to a report issued by the Mexican Seismological National System.
The U.S. Geological Service told Reuters the quake struck about 6.2 miles deep, which is considered to be a shallow earthquake.
No tsunami warning has been issued.
According to the SSN report, the quake hit at 12:06 hours.
The Office Civil Protection of Jalisco said there are no reports of damages as they continue to monitor the situation in 125 municipalities that may have been affected.
Jalisco, the seventh-largest state in Mexico, is located in the central western coast of the country.
