Authorities have released the identity of a Philadelphia man injured when a bomb stuffed inside a padded envelope exploded in his downtown apartment.

James Alden, who is in his 60s, remained in stable condition following surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital on Tuesday.

Police say Alden and his 32-year-old partner live in the apartment where the envelope was apparently delivered Monday. The device inside exploded when Alden opened it about 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Alden's partner has told police Alden received asthma inhalers in the mail and apparently believed that's what was inside.
