Former Harlem Globetrotters star Meadowlark Lemon is facing a full court press after being sued by his ex-wife and younger son, who claim he owes them $250,000 in child support.

According to CTPost.com, Willie Lemon Campbell, the basketball player's former wife, says he left her "buried in bills" and with little money to support her children.

"He has never complied with anything the courts told him to do," she said.

The couple divorced in 1977.

Lemon, 83, claimed at the time he no longer had the income to pay court-ordered child support because he had left the Globetrotters, CTPost.com reported.

According to the Post, Lemon, who became a household name in the 1970s, is confused by the lawsuit.

"I don't know what they are doing," he said. "John is 48 years old now. I don't know if he is running out of money, but if that is so he ought to get out and get a job. My former wife was a good wife."

Lemon, who is now a motivational speaker in Arizona, said he will contest the matter in Connecticut court.

Lemon played forward with the Harlem Globetrotters for 23 years.
