Less than 24 hours after human remains were found along the shores of a Minnesota lake, police arrested one person in what they believe was a targeted act of violence and executed "multiple" search warrants.
Bradley Allen Weyaus, 21, of Isle, Minnesota, was arrested Tuesday night on four outstanding warrants not connected to this investigation, Mille Lacs County Sheriff Kyle Burton said on Wednesday afternoon.
Two other locations in North Kathio Township and a city of Isle apartment were processed in connection with the investigation, Burton said.
The quickly evolving investigation "with many moving pieces" started around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday, after a highway maintenance crew found human remains wrapped in a tote on the southwest side of Mille Lacs Lake.

The 132,516-acre lake that covers 207 square miles in Mille Lacs County is one of the state's largest inland lakes and has been the scene of several discoveries of human remains over the years.
Law enforcement haven't released the identity of the human remains, but Burton said, "There's no indication at this point that this was a random act of violence."
"We believe there to be a connection between our person of interest and our victim," he said. "The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office is examining the remains to make positive identification of the deceased. Once that determination has been made, we will release the name."
Weyaus was booked on Tuesday in the Mille Lacs County jail on several pending felony charges and multiple traffic violations, according to jail records.
The charges listed include fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, possessing a controlled substance with intent to sell, third-degree burglary and state lottery fraud, according to the jail records.
The sheriff stressed the outstanding warrants and pending charges are not related to the ongoing case connected to the human remains.
He's only considered a "person of interest" in this current case.
