A Georgia police officer was shot on Wednesday afternoon while responding to an armed robbery call.
Clayton County Police Department Sgt. Julia Issac said the police officer was taken to a local hospital, and Fox 5 Atlanta reports that the officer is expected to survive.
Issac told citizens around the area to stay inside, as the suspect is not yet in custody.

The incident comes amid a recent wave of police officers being shot while on the line of duty.
Nine police officers were shot in Arizona on Feb. 14 while responding to a domestic dispute.
Two New York City police officers were shot while responding to a domestic violence call involving a mother and her son on Jan. 21.
Two St. Louis police officers were shot in nearby Ferguson, Missouri, on Jan. 26 after spotting a vehicle that was possibly linked to a homicide, according to authorities.
