WASHINGTON, Pa. – Authorities say a father coming to his daughter's aid after she had a fight with her boyfriend has been shot dead from the upstairs window of their Pennsylvania home.
Washington County District Attorney Eugene Vittone says 18-year-old Jerald Thompson was jailed without bond Friday after being arraigned on criminal homicide and reckless endangerment charges.
Washington police Chief Chris Luppino says Thompson was arguing with his girlfriend about their child before 4 a.m. Friday when she called her parents. They later arrived at the front door.
That's when Vittone says Thompson fired a shot from a .22-caliber rifle and shot 42-year-old Jerred Price.
Online court records don't list an attorney for Thompson. He faces a preliminary hearing Feb. 18.
According to a police complaint, Thompson acknowledged firing at Price.
