At least nine people were injured and one person has died after a shooting on Chicago's South Side, according to police.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. CT on South Prairie Avenue in Chatham, the Chicago Police Department reported.

The victims, all of whom are adults, have been transported to hospitals, the majority of whom were in "fair" condition as of Saturday morning and three of whom were in "good" condition.

One 29-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center after she was shot in the leg and abdomen.

Other victims include a 30-year-old man who was shot in the ankle; a 32-year-old man who was shot in the hand and leg; a 46-year old man who was shot in the buttocks; a 26-year-old man who was shot in the leg; a 34-year-old woman who was shot in in the left arm and shoulder; a 23-year-old man who was shot in the arm and leg; another 23-year-old man who was shot in the foot; and a 27-year-old man who was also shot in the foot.
