When booking a vacation, a hotel that has its own pool is always a big bonus.

But a hotel in Texas has gone one step further, with a giant lazy river on its roof that takes 15 minutes to complete.

The recently-opened 530-foot lazy river at the Marriott Marquis in Houston is formed in the shape of the state of Texas. It sits on the top of the 29-storey hotel, 100 feet above street level.

Guests can meander along the lazy river, which is peppered with waterfalls and water cannons along the route.

Unsurprisingly for something that contains 140,000 gallons of water, the waterway is so heavy that an impermeable deck exists underneath it to prevent the possibility of water leaking through to a ballroom below.

There is also a large infinity pool for those who prefer to do laps, with views of the city below.

A dive bar and grill sits the rooftop too, for those planning on spending the whole afternoon poolside.
