Kanye West and his fiancée have called off their year-and-a-half engagement.

"It's always sad when things like this end, and we remain friends,” his former fiancée, designer Alexis Phifer, told People magazine. "I wish him the best in his future and all of his endeavors. He's one of the most talented people I've ever met."

The 30-year-olds have been spending less and less time together, a friend told People.

West and Phifer dated on and off since 2002 and got engaged on the island of Capri in August 2006.

Last week, Phifer was seen walking the red carpet minus her engagement ring at an event in New York where her clothing line, Ghita, was featured.

It hasn't been a good couple of weeks for Kanye. While performing in Sacramento, Calif., on Friday, the hip-hop star accidentally referred to the city as Seattle during the delivery of one of his songs.

But West wasted no time admitting to his flawed performance. In his blog, he addressed the mishap and apologized to all his Golden State fans:

"I can't believe I bust a spinal tap! It's no excuse for this I wish I could sink in a black whole [sic]," Kanye wrote on Saturday. "When I said Seattle and there was no crowd response I was up on my spaceship platform thinking damn ... I think I just said the wrong city!!!!!"

But the majority of his fans took the apology quite well, even going so far as giving him kudos for admitting to his mistake.

"Hey, I'm not perfect," Kanye wrote. "Hope everybody had a good time. I'm a man, I can say it ... I'm sorry."
