Paraguayan javelin thrower Leryn Franco came up short during the London 2012 Olympic Games but she still holds the top spot for hottest female Olympian.
According to a report from Yahoo Sports! Franco finished in 18th place in the qualifying round and failed to make it to the finals, something she predicted before competing.
She had a similar situation happen during the last Olympic Games in Beijing, where she finished in 51st place.
"I am not expecting a medal," Franco told Yahoo! Sports. "The competition is very strong and there are athletes who are stronger than me. But I treat it seriously and I want to do my personal best. For me the best reward is just to be here. Getting to the Olympics is like a medal for me."
Franco, who, after Michael Phelps, was Yahoo’s second-most searched Olympian during the Beijing Games, says she has a lot going on besides her javelin career.
"My situation is different from most of the other javelin throwers," Franco said. "I am not just an athlete. I have to be honest, my career is really in the media.”
"If people open a magazine, they can see me there. Modeling and fashion is my job, too,” Franco continued. “It takes up much of my time and enables me to make money. It is flattering to me that people find me good-looking and enjoy seeing me wearing good fashion items."
The former pageant queen raised eyebrows in the United States after being featured in Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition; she got a hefty endorsement deal from Nike. Then international attention came after the bombshell began dating tennis player Novak Djokovic.
The relationship was short-lived after both athletes’ schedules made it hard for it to work out.
