Los Angeles, CA – The Chicago Cubs traded infielder Jeff Baker to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday.
The 31-year-old Baker hit .269 with four home runs and 20 RBI in 54 games with the Cubs this season.
In eight seasons with the Rockies and Cubs, Baker owns a .270 career average with 37 homers and 173 RBI.
The Cubs received two players to be named later in exchange for Baker.
Chicago also selected the contract of outfielder Brett Jackson from Triple-A Iowa, recalled infielder Josh Vitters from Iowa and optioned outfielder Tony Compana to Iowa.
