Ao defends belt against Boschiero

Tokyo, Japan – Japan's Takahiro Ao defended his WBC super decision victory against Devis Boschiero.

Ao won 115-113 on two scorecards, while Boschiero (29-1-1, 14 KOs) won on the other by a tally of 116-113. Ao (22-2-1, 10 KOs) won his fifth consecutive match since losing to Elio Rojas in a WBC featherweight title bout.

Also on Sunday, Shinsuke Yamanaka defeated Christian Esquivel for the vacant WBC bantamweight title. Yamanaka won by an 11th-round technical knockout, sending Esquivel down to the mat in the sixth and 11th rounds.
