George W. and Laura Bush announce birth of 2nd grandchild

The Bush family announced the latest addition to their family on Friday, introducing Poppy Louise Hager to the world, accompanied by a beaming picture of delighted grandparents George W. and Laura Bush.

"Laura and I are overjoyed to meet our second grandchild today. Poppy Louise Hager entered the world yesterday in New York City, but we consider her an honorary Texan,” the Bushes announced in a statement.

Poppy Louise is the daughter of Jenna Bush Hager, her second child with husband Henry Hager.

The Bush statement said that Jenna and Henry chose the name Poppy as a tribute to former President George H.W. Bush, who was given the nickname as a child.

“We are grateful to God – and to Jenna and Henry – for this beautiful, healthy gift of life,” the statement said.
