An Albanian immigrant who is now an attorney in the U.S. warned "failed" government policies are bringing socialism to America "whether we like it or not."
Peter Lumaj, who escaped the then-communist country, joined "Fox & Friends" to express his fears as pending U.S. immigration cases surge to over 2 million in FY 2023.
"The failed liberal policies that [are] implemented in the United States are exactly what we left behind in Eastern Europe 30 years ago," Lumaj said Tuesday. "It didn't work anywhere else in the world. When I hear it is Democratic socialism, you cannot implement socialism anywhere in the world without using brutal, brutal force against the population eventually. And this is not good for the future of this country and the future of our children and grandchildren and generations to come."

Lumaj said when he and his brothers decided to escape Albania, his family was picked up by government agents and taken to a concentration camp, where his father was tortured to death for not notifying the government of their plans. It was years before the family was reunited again in the U.S. and became citizens.
After what his family experienced, Lumaj called out the Biden administration's immigration policies.
"Pretty much the federal government is enticing illegal immigration, illegal immigrants to come to United States, not for the American dream any longer, but we're inviting them to come to United States for the benefits that we provide. And I think that is not the right way to do it," he said.
Retired Navy SEAL Thomas "Drago" Dzieran, who escaped socialism after fleeing Soviet-occupied Poland, has also not forgotten the struggles and political persecution that brought him to America.
Dzieran sounded the alarm for others who are becoming complacent with what he views is the wrong trajectory for the nation, warning that socialism has already begun to infiltrate the U.S. by citing attacks on traditional values and a consequential moral decay wreaking havoc on culture.
"People need to ask themselves, ‘How can somebody bring the United States down?’ Definitely not by force," he told Fox News in March. "There won't be Chinese soldiers landing on our beaches. It can only be done from within."
Dzieran said people should be "vigilant" regarding the effort to stifle faith and patriotism in America, noting that these transitions, along with denigration of the family, are warning signs of disastrous changes to come.

Lumaj said his heart breaks when he hears American-born citizens being critical of what the country has to offer.
"The American dream is achievable and it's still out there," he said.
"America is the greatest country in the world."
