It’s easy to envy Hollywood’s hottest celebrities — think Tom and Tobey and Angelina and Gwyneth. But though they may be incredibly good-looking, they’re probably more miserable than you are ... unless you’re wildly gorgeous, too. According to a recent study, being physically appealing increases the likelihood of wrecked relationships. Hence, those four celebs have all dealt with marital mayhem — and Ivy League brainiacs are not surprised.
EXPERTS SAY THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO FLIRT
Harvard University researchers asked women to judge the attractiveness of 238 men by looking at photos in a high school yearbook. Their first conclusion was obvious: The best-looking men were deemed most desirable. But using information from Ancestry.com, they discovered something less expected: The chosen men were most likely to make lousy husbands and wind up divorced from their spouses, according to Medical Daily.
From there, researchers found that the top 20 actresses on IMDb and the 100 most powerful men on the site tended to have the rockiest marriages and shortest relationships, Daily Mail reported.
It’s no mystery to scientists why we long for attractive partners.

“There are a lot of good reasons why we pick people who are good-looking, because facial symmetry in men can be a sign of health and virility, and beauty in women [may be] a sign they have good hormones for reproduction,” lead author of the study, Christine Ma-Kellams, Ph.D., told Daily Mail. “[But physical attraction] may make people who are unhappy in their relationships more likely to pursue alternative relationships and so perhaps it is not always a good thing.”
