Uber driver helps deliver a baby while stuck in traffic

There’s no app for that!

An Uber driver helped deliver a baby on the Kosciuszko Bridge Sunday.

Saki Tsaki, 23, said he picked up the mom-to-be and her small daughter in Astoria, Queens, after they requested a ride to Wyckoff Hospital in Brooklyn.

It soon became clear that the woman was in active labor, according to Tsaki.

“The baby was coming out,” said Tsaki, who noted traffic was backed up on the bridge along the BQE, so he pulled over and called 911.

“I kept telling her, ‘Take deep breaths in.’ She was screaming and gasping a lot for air,” the driver said.

Officials soon arrived, and NYPD Officer Raphael Mohammed, 43, helped in the delivery, which was made difficult because of a wrapped umbilical cord.

“Priority 1 was to get the mom calm,” Mohammed said. “Once I got there and I see a child’s body and not a head. I get close and see an umbilical cord, that’s when I had to move quickly and think quickly. my priority was to get air to this child and free the airway up.

“It took about three or four [pushes], I was finally able to get the baby out. “My adrenaline was pumping… It worked out.”
