Bachata singer Anthony “Romeo” Santos is teaming up with Hollywood power couple Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith to launch a new show on ABC, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Despite rumors of a breakup between Will and Jada due to an alleged affair between she and Marc Anthony, the couple seems to be together and going strong with their ABC project.
Santos will play the role of a charming Dominican-American from New York City’s Washington Heights neighborhood whose dilemma is to please his old-school, immigrant father while striving to make good on the American Dream as a second generation Latino.
Musically, Santos is hot off the debut of the Spanglish version of “Promise,” a collaboration with pop star Usher. “Promise” is Santos’ first single off his upcoming solo album "Formula Vol. 1," which will be released Nov. 8.
Other celebrities who have linked up with the bachata star to perform on Formula Vol. 1 include heavy hitters Lil Wayne, Pitbull, La Mala Rodríguez, and Mario Donn from the Mexican boy group Camila.
Santos is best known for being the lead singer in the popular urban bachata group “Aventura,” where he performs alongside his cousins Henry, Lenny and Max Santos. The group fused traditional bachata with other genres of music such as hip hop and R&B. They have collaborated with stars such R. Kelly and Wisin y Yandel and Don Omar among others.
