Singer Richard Marx and wife divorcing after 25 years

Richard Marx won’t be right here waiting for his wife anymore. The singer’s rep confirmed to Us Weekly that he and his wife, actress and singer Cynthia Rhodes separated in July and are in the process of divorcing after 25 years of marriage.

Marx, 50, first met his wife in 1983 while working on the film, ‘Staying Alive,’ in which she starred as John Travolta’s love interest. Rhodes, 57, is best known for her roles in movies like ‘Dirty Dancing’ and ‘Flashdance.’ She also appeared in Marx’s music video ‘Don’t Mean Nothing in 1987.

They got married in 1989, settled in Marx's hometown of Chicago, and have three sons together, Brandon, 23, Lucas, 21 and Jesse, 20.

The divorce announcement was first made public on Friday's episode of “Katie,” when Katie Couric remarked that Marx was “back on the market.”

He admitted that the whole experience is, “brand new to me, so I’m just having fun.”
