Syfy is moving forward with a sequel to their social media hit "Sharknado," the network announced Tuesday. And this time the flying sharks are heading to the Big Apple!
"Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm — on television," Syfy Executive Vice President Thomas Vitale said in a statement."The fans are clamoring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel. What we can guarantee is that 'Sharknado 2' will be lots of fun. We'll be announcing more details very soon. But we didn't want our fans to worry they wouldn't get their fill of more shark fin, I mean, fun next year," said
24 (not-so) guilty-pleasure shows!
Though "Sharknado," which premiered on July 11, didn't do so hot in the ratings, the campy film took Twitter by storm. Syfy has decided to capitalize on its social popularity by running a Twitter contest to help name the movie with an appropriate (and ridiculous) subtitle. To add your suggestion to the running, tweet your subtitle to @SyfyMovies using #Sharknado.
