'Saved by the Bell' star Mark-Paul Gosselaar reveals he dated co-star Elizabeth Berkley

It seems Zack Morris was a heartthrob both on and off screen as the actor who portrayed him on “Saved by the Bell,” Mark-Paul Gosselaar, recently revealed that he had a behind-the-scenes romance with his co-star, Elizabeth Berkley.

The reveal came out during Gosselaar’s appearance on Anna Faris’ “Unqualified” podcast. The star appeared on the Jan. 22 episode where the topic of dating came up and he discussed how drastically different his high school dating life was from people that aren’t on a TV set every day.

“When you're working on a set, and we were young, there's no one around really. I mean, you work and live in a bubble,” he said (via E! News).

The star was on the hit TV show from age 12 to age 19 before joining the “College Years” spinoff. He didn’t attend a typical school as a result of the workload. He explained to Faris that there aren’t a lot of options when it comes to meeting new women. As a result, the cast naturally gravitated toward each other.

“You're in L.A., right. You're in your cars and you come to set and you do your work and you're with these beautiful women and then you go back in your car...and you're not going to school, so you don't have a lot of choices,” he said, later revealing that he didn’t go out much.

News of his relationship with Berkley isn’t necessarily a surprise to diehard fans. He previously commented on the cast’s “incestuous” relationship during People's 20-year reunion special.

“Sometimes the girls would gang up on the guys. Tiffani and Elizabeth would hate me, and then they’d hate Lark because Lark was talking to me, and Mario was supposed to side with someone. All that stuff you did in high school, like, ‘How could you talk to him?'”
