This might be the more bizarre True Detective casting report we've heard. A Mad Men actress and a Wedding Crasher are apparently up for roles in the HBO series.
While Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain, Taylor Kitsch and Colin Farrell's names have all been dropped as prospects for the second season, The Wrap is now reporting that Elisabeth Moss and funnyman Vince Vaughn are being considered.

Per usual, HBO had no comment on the casting.
The trade website claims Vaughn is in talks to play the bad guy, while Moss is "being eyed" for the female lead as well as The Killing's Michelle Forbes. As some of you may recall, Moss played a pretty good detective in the Australian mini-series Top of the Lake. So good in fact, it earned her a Golden Globe this past year.
Chastain and Pitt are most certainly out of the race, but The Wrap insists that Farrell is nearing a deal to star in the series, while Kitsch is up to play the "younger male lead." This role would come after the Friday Night Lights star's critically acclaimed role in HBO's movie The Normal Heart.
As for the season 2 plot line, the website reports it will "follow the death of Ben Caspar, the corrupt city manager of a fictional California city who's found brutally murdered amid a potentially groundbreaking transportation deal that would forever change freeway gridlock in the state. Three law enforcement officers from different cities and branches of the government are tasked with finding out who did it. They soon discover their investigation has much broader and darker implications than they initially thought."
Do you think Moss and Vaughn are a good fit for True Detective?
