Katy Perry talks marrying Russell Brand when she 'still believed in Disney Princesses'

Katy Perry opened up about her past marriage to comedian Russell Brand and why she’s much healthier when it comes to her current love life.

As fans know, the “American Idol” judge was married to Brand from 2010 to 2012. Both have openly discussed how their relationship didn’t work, but now the star is looking inward, noting that she was far too young to know who she was, let alone to be able to take on a whole other person into her life.

“It's easy to be single and not to be called out on your stuff, living your awesome single life thinking you're the greatest, and the best, and doing anything you want. But then when you get in a partnership you guys are there to teach each other lessons,” she told Paper magazine in a recent interview.

Perry went on to note that her marriage happened almost a decade ago, when she still “believed in Disney Princesses.”

“I’m very pragmatic and logistical and I am less fantastical about things. I mean, I was married when I was 25. I’m 34. It was almost 10 years ago. I was like, ‘One person for the rest of my life,’ and I’m not so sure that that idea is for me. I’m just such a different person than I was.”

The star has been romantically linked to singer John Mayer and Orlando Bloom in the past, and by all indications is still dating the latter. However, she says that her more seasoned years, as well as therapy, have helped her evolve when it comes to her outlook on relationships going forward.
