Jennifer Lopez set the record straight: She is single and loving it.
The “Booty” singer opened up about her relationship status during an appearance on "The Meredith Vieira Show" on Monday.
“I’m just enjoying being on my own. I feel like I need that right now,” Lopez told Vieira in her show’s premiere episode. “It’s ridiculous because I go through this in public. I’ve been in relationships kind of back to back my whole life and I just needed time.”
The 44-year-old “American Idol” judge has been single since early in the summer after splitting from longtime boyfriend Casper Smart, 26.
Rumors that they got back together swirled in the days leading up to the MTV Video Music Awards after they were spotted driving around Los Angeles. The former couple was again spotted during the show when Smart went up to Lopez and offered her some Skittles.
But from what she told Vieira, the rumors are not true.
“I need time to just chill and just know me and enjoy my kids and actually make time for other friends instead of just the relationship,” Lopez said. “All of a sudden all the relationships in your life start working once you are thinking about yourself.”
Despite sounding like she has things figured out, the “Luv Ya Papi” singer confessed that she doesn’t wake up like that every day and she has some un-sexy moments.
“Nobody’s perfect all the time and certainly not me,” she said. “I wake up and think to myself, ‘Oh my God. Put it together Lopez. Let’s go!’”
