Emma Bunton broke her silence on her Spice Girls bandmate Mel B’s recent admission that she had sex with Geri Halliwell.
The “America’s Got Talent” judge revealed during an interview that she had a brief fling with Halliwell back in the band’s heyday. A representative for Halliwell has since denied Mel B’s claims noting that they’ve been “hurtful to her family.”
Speaking on Virgin Radio’s Breakfast Show, Emma Bunton, formerly known as Baby Spice, broke her silence on the rumors.
“It’s the first I’ve heard of it, let’s put it that way,” the star said in a clip from the show. “It’s the first I’ve heard of it.”
Bunton claims she hasn’t watched the interview in which Mel B made the shocking reveal, but said she did receive “lots and lots of texts” shortly after the news broke. The show’s host, Chris Evans, pressed the star on whether this was merely a way to drum up publicity for the Spice Girls’ upcoming reunion tour.

“That’s how I feel, it’s a laugh,” she said. “Also, with Mel, you take everything with a pinch of salt. She’s great fun.”
Mel B previously clarified her comments about a fling with Halliwell during an appearance on the British radio show “2Day FM Breakfast with Grant, Ed & Ash.”
“It wasn’t, like, a big deal,” Mel B told the hosts. “We’ve known each other for 20-plus years. It was just one of those things that happened one night.”
