Insiders say opposites may have been what attracted Bezos and Sanchez to one another.
"Lauren has a really bubbly personality and likes to have fun and go out. She's very social — always has been and always will be. She’s the kind of person who at 49 will still grab a group of girlfriends and helicopter to the desert for a weekend at Coachella," a source told People.
The source added, "On the face of it, she seems like the polar opposite of Bezos, but maybe that's why he was so drawn to her. She’s got an uncanny ability to make people do anything — she's very persuasive — both intentionally and unintentionally."
Sanchez is still legally married to husband Patrick Whitesell, and insiders told People the couple is still living together, but that problems were brewing in their marriage for a long time.

"Over the last two or three years, their marriage felt more like a business relationship. They both were doing their own thing," the source said. "She would be out and about a lot and he was never with her."
Sanchez and Whitesell, 53, have been together for 13 years. They share two children; Sanchez also has a teenage son from her previous relationship with former Kansas City Chiefs tight-end Tony Gonzalez.
Bezos and Sanchez have reportedly been dating for four months, though some reports say they'd been together as many as nine months.
Bezos and his wife of 25 years, MacKenzie, announced their divorce in a joint statement last week.
A source previously told Fox News that they didn't believe Sanchez was a homewrecker.
"I don't think she would ever put herself, her family or anyone else's family in jeopardy for a fling — she always put her kids before anything else," the source said. "Regardless of what did or didn't happen, Lauren is a catch for anyone and her attitude and personality permeated the room."
