Christian Bale is an award-winning actor who rose to fame after playing a role in Steven Spielberg’s “Empire of the Sun” in 1987. He is now known for his many movie roles such as Christopher Nolan’s "The Dark Knight" trilogy, the Academy Award winning film, “The Fighter,” a movie that earned Bale the Oscar for best performance by an actor in a supporting role and the 2000 horror movie, “American Psycho.”
Bale was born in Pembrokeshire, Wales to parents Jennifer and David. After getting his first acting job in a commercial, he acted in the NBC series “Anastasia: The Mystery of Anna” in 1986 before landing a role in “Empire of the Sun,” which helped him catapult to fame.
After that, Bale had roles in “Henry V,” “Newsies” and “Swing Kids.” During the second half of the 90’s, he was in “The Portrait of a Lady,” “The Secret Agent,” “Metroland,” “Velvet Goldmine,” “All the Little Animals” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
In 2000, Bale was in the horror movie, “American Psycho” and was in movies including “Shaft,” “Equilibrium,” “The Machinist” and “Harsh Times,” which lead to his first time playing Bruce Wayne/Batman in the 2005 movie “Batman Begins.”
Bale continued to play the caped crusader in two other movies to wrap up director Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” trilogy. He was in the 2008 movie “The Dark Knight,” where the late Heath Ledger played the Joker and then was in “The Dark Knight Rises” in 2012.

Bale has been married to his wife, Sibi Blazic since 2000 and they have two children, Joseph and Emmaline.
