Ram Truck unveiled the Rumble Bee Concept pickup at Detroit's Woodward Dream Cruise this past weekend in celebration of the 10th anniversary the limited edition original version of the high-performance truck.
The two-door short-bed is finished appropriately in Drone Yellow paint, black stripes with honeycomb accents and Speed Bee logos on the sides in tribute to the Dodge Super Bee muscle cars of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s.
The suspension is lowered two inches, wheels grow by the same amount to 24-inches and the rear-wheel-drive truck is powered by a 395 horsepower 5.7-liter Hemi V8 that sends 407 lb-ft of torque through an 8-speed automatic.
The dial-type gear selector for the transmission is decorated with an actual bee embedded in an amber honeycomb -- don’t worry, kids, it was already dead -- and sits just above buttons that control Loud and Louder settings for the exhaust, while the black and yellow motif continues throughout.
Although some controversy surrounds the exact amount, it’s believed that less than 5,000 Rumble Bees were built during the 2004 and 2005 model years. That number won’t be added to anytime soon because the new version hasn’t been announced for production.
But if enough people start buzzing about it, the yellow light could turn to green as quickly as the drag strip Christmas trees Rumble Bees often to swarm to on summer nights.
