Forget those commemorative plates, now you can own Kate’s car!
A Volkswagen Golf once owned by the Dutchess of Cambridge is being auctioned on eBay UK. The blue compact – often seen in paparazzi photos of Middleton while she was being courted by Prince William – was purchased in 2001 for £10,818 (approx. $17,000.)
According to its current owner, Sonny Brazil, the two-door had about 60,000 miles on it before it was sold by Kate’s brother, James, to Brazil's father, a used car dealer in the city of Reading, for £1,400.

Brazil told the British newspaper, The Daily Mail, that the VW has been appraised for nearly £30,000, thanks to its history. He listed the car with a minimum bid of £20,000, but, with four days left in the auction, seven bidders have pushed the price up to £25,100, which is still short of its undisclosed reserve.
Brazil found a pair of men’s cufflinks in the car, which he originally planned to auction, as well, but instead decided to give them back to the Middleton family in case they have sentimental value.
Sometime after letting go of the VW, Middleton stepped up to an Audi A3 hatchback, which she still had at the time of her wedding. Prince William also drives an Audi – a high performance S4 sedan – as does his father, Prince Charles, who has several in his garage. The Daily Mail has previously reported that the German automaker gives the Royal family a 60 percent discount on its cars, but Charles was deft enough to lend the newlyweds his wine-powered Aston Martin on the day of their wedding.
