A Texas woman accused of killing a pedestrian in a hit-and-run collision in the Atlanta suburbs, then making her getaway by carjacking two drivers and fleeing 25 miles into the heart of Atlanta, is scheduled to make her first court appearance Thursday.

Police say 43-year-old Kristie Renee Nesby was armed with a handgun and attempting to hijack a third vehicle Wednesday morning on a busy Atlanta thoroughfare when officers finally caught her.

Cobb County police officer Alicia Chilton said the roadway crime spree began around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday in suburban Cobb County when Nesby's vehicle left the road and struck a woman walking on a sidewalk who later died.

Jail records list Nesby's address as Fresno, Texas, near Houston. It wasn't clear whether she has an attorney who could be reached for comment.
