Each time a new reserve office needed training, Waynesboro police liked to team the rookie up with Kevin Quick. They knew he would set the right example.

Waynesboro police Sgt. Brian Edwards says Quick's value as a mentor was just one of the positive traits he exhibited in his professional and personal life. Edwards describes Quick was pleasant, unflappable, reliable and devoted to his family.

The 45-year-old Quick was found dead last Thursday, six days after he failed to show up as expected to visit his girlfriend and their 4-month-old daughter. Nobody has been charged with murder, but two people have been charged with stealing his SUV and four others have been charged with gang participation in connection with the case.
