SAN FRANCISCO – Thieves are targeting Northern California news crews.
At least a dozen television crews and newspaper photographers have been robbed since 2012. Two have been pistol whipped.
Police on both sides of the San Francisco Bay say they are investigating. But they've made no arrests.
So far, no photojournalist has been seriously injured. But personal safety is becoming a higher priority even on the most routine news stories.
News crews now sometimes travel with armed guard to many assignments.
