A law enforcement task force investigating the deaths and disappearances of several women in and around a southern Ohio city has announced the arrest of a man on kidnapping and assault charges.

Authorities in Chillicothe (chihl-ih-KAHTH'-ee) say Ernest Moore turned himself in late Thursday after police announced they were looking for him.

The 39-year-old Moore, with a Columbus address, was being held in Ross County Jail with an initial hearing scheduled later Friday. He did not yet have an attorney available to comment on the charge.

Officials say the indictment was the result of an investigation by Chillicothe police.

Four women have died under suspicious circumstances since May 2014 and two others remain missing. The women were all drug addicts who sometimes prostituted themselves.
