CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Police in Chattanooga are investigating a fatal shooting by Hamilton County deputies.
Local media report the shooting happened Tuesday night when deputies responded to a call about a possibly armed suspect. Hamilton County Sheriff's spokesman Gino Bennett says in a statement that the suspect, 46-year-old Brent Pickard, fled by vehicle and officers followed, trying multiple times to pull him over.
When Pickard, who is white, did stop on a highway north of Hixson, Bennet said he "brandished a weapon at which time officers had to use deadly force to stop him."
Bennett said no deputies were injured. Pickard is white. Police haven't identified the deputies who shot at Pickard.
