ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Prosecutors say the Buffalo Bills' stadium video system captured a fan sliding down an upper deck railing four times before he fell on the fifth go and landed on another fan, who was injured.
During opening statements Thursday in Robert Hopkins' trial, a prosecutor told a six-person town court jury that they'll see video from inside Ralph Wilson Stadium showing him repeatedly riding the railing during a game in November in Orchard Park.
On his fifth slide down, Hopkins tumbled over the side and fell about 30 feet, landing on a man who suffered injuries to his head, neck and back.
Hopkins is charged with assault and reckless endangerment.
His defense attorney says it was an accident that didn't legally rise to the level of a crime.
