Internet security mogul John McAfee, wanted by Belizean police in connection to the murder of a U.S. expatriate, has not been arrested -- despite a post on McAfee's personal blog.
"We have received an unconfirmed report that John McAfee has been captured at the border of Belize and Mexico," the blog post reads.
Police say McAfee's whereabouts are still unknown, according to the Daily Mail.
McAfee, 67, has been described by police in Belize as a "person of interest" in the murder of Gregory Viant Faull, a builder from Florida.
Faull was shot to death in early November on the Caribbean island where both men lived.
McAfee acknowledges that Faull had complained about his dogs, which were poisoned shortly before Faull's killing, but McAfee has said he didn't kill him.
The former tech-company founder has talked about his case with reporters via email, on cellphone calls from undisclosed locations, and in his blog, "Who is McAfee? The official blog of John McAfee."
McAfee, the creator of the McAfee antivirus program, has led a life of eccentricity since he sold his stake in the anti-virus software company that is named for him in the early 1990s and moved to Belize about three years ago in an apparent effort to lower his taxes.
A source at the U.S. Embassy in Belize told AFP people close to McAfee had denied reports that he was captured. A police spokesman told the news agency he had no information on a possible arrest.
