ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Police say two aging professors accused of running an online prostitution website appeared to have one goal: Creating a place where respected men like themselves could go for sex without having to worry about getting caught up in street stings.
Albuquerque police Lt. William Roseman says the accused professors had too much to lose to be "down on Central (Avenue)."
Seventy-one-year-old former University of New Mexico President F. Chris Garcia is scheduled for arraignment Friday on charges of promoting prostitution and tampering with evidence.
Another academic, 68-year-old Fairleigh University physics professor David C. Flory is suspected of being the ringleader. He was arrested on 40 charges in Albuquerque on Sunday.
The professors are among six people arrested in the case.
