A man accused of stealing a truck that was involved in a fatal collision with a New York City bus faces manslaughter charges.

Police say 22-year-old Dominic Whilby of Griffin, Ga., was arrested Thursday. He also faces grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and felony assault charges. It wasn't immediately clear if Whilby had a lawyer.

Police say the truck was stolen early Wednesday on West 16th Street. They say it crashed into the bus at West 14th Street and 7th Avenue a short time later.

The bus driver, William Pena, of Hillside, N.J., was killed. Five other people, including Whilby, were injured.

The crash sent both vehicles crashing into scaffolding and a building.

Pena was the first city bus driver killed in a collision in more than 14 years.
