PHOENIX – A Phoenix man is in custody after his baby son ingested methamphetamine off his thumb.
Authorities say 24-year-old Christopher Telles is being held on suspicion of child abuse.
Court records show Telles brought the infant to a Maricopa County hospital on April 27.
Authorities say the then 11-week-old boy was suffering from what appeared to be seizures.
Police say Telles later told officers that he had crushed a rock-like form of methamphetamine the previous day.
When the infant was crying, Telles told police that he used his thumb to calm the baby down and his thumb had methamphetamine on it.
Telles was arrested Wednesday. It was unclear Thursday if he has a lawyer yet for his case.
