NEW YORK – A teenager faces attempted murder charges in a weekend shooting at a crowded Manhattan ice-skating rink.
The shooting occurred late Saturday at the Bryant Park rink behind the main building of the New York Public Library.
A 20-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy were wounded.
Police say the violence erupted after the 16-year-old suspect attempted to rob the 20-year-old skater of his coat.
When the man refused to hand over his coat, police say the would-be robber left but returned later with a gun.
The 14-year-old is believed to have been an innocent bystander.
The suspect is being charged as an adult. Police also charged him with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
