Karen Domagalski, the operations manager for the office, says Za'layia Jenkins was pronounced dead at a children's hospital at 5 p.m. Monday. An autopsy is pending.
Domagalski says the office will not release any further information in the case.
The girl was shot May 5 as she watched television in her home while police say two groups armed with rifles and pistols were engaged in a "shootout." A bullet penetrated the home, striking her. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports police are still searching for a green Jeep Cherokee whose driver may have information about the shooting.
