Judge allows Oregon death row inmate to reject reprieve

SALEM, Oregon – A judge has allowed a death-row inmate to reject a reprieve from the governor.

Senior Judge Timothy Alexander ruled Friday that Gary Haugen has the right to reject Gov. John Kitzhaber's decision not to execute him.

Haugen said last year that he was giving up his right to appeals and that he wants to die. But Kitzhaber said no executions would occur on his watch.
