ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – A five year-old boy has died after suffering a severe head injury from a fall off a diving board in central Florida.
A family statement says Ian Freeman died Friday night at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. He spent over a week in critical condition there after falling off a diving board at a Seminole County high school.
The statement released Saturday says the family will donate his organs.
The Orlando Sentinel reports Ian slipped off the side of the 10-foot diving board on Sept. 12.
He hit the pool deck during diving practice at the Lake Brantley High School swim facilities in Altamonte Springs.
His mother was at the pool at the time.
