PORT ORCHARD, Wash. -- Police in Washington have arrested five people who allegedly helped a man suspected of fatally shooting a Washington State Patrol trooper.
The suspect, identified as Joshua Jearl Blake, died Thursday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after allegedly shooting trooper Tony Radulescu earlier in the day following a traffic stop.
Blake's 18-year-old ex-girlfriend, Jesse Leigh Foster, was arrested Thursday on charges of rendering criminal assistance, The Seattle Times reported Saturday.
Four other people -- two men aged 30 and 37, an 18-year-old woman and a 26-year-old woman -- were booked into Kitsap County Jail on the same charge, the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office announced late Friday.
All five are being held on $500,000 bail, according to a press release.
Police believe Foster and the other 18-year-old woman were with Blake when he allegedly killed Radulescu at around 1:00am Thursday in Gorst, approximately 30 miles northwest of Tacoma.
Officers arrived on the scene when the trooper did not respond to subsequent checks from dispatchers.
Radulescu, a 16-year veteran of the state patrol who was also a military veteran, was taken to Tacoma General Hospital, where he died from his gunshot wounds Thursday.
Authorities found Blake at around 9:00am Thursday after a SWAT team unit approached a home in Kitsap, Wash., about five miles from the scene of the shooting.
After hearing a gunshot, police discovered Blake inside the home with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He died Thursday at Tacoma General Hospital.
