A 62-year-old man was arrested on drunken driving charges Monday evening after disrupting a Toys for Tots collection drive outside Dallas, authorities said.

It wasn’t clear why the suspect, identified as Patrick George Yadauga, was at the event because he hadn’t brought a toy to donate, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Police in Southlake, about 30 miles northwest of Dallas, said Yadauga drove his vehicle the wrong way into a drop-off area where toy donations were being collected, FOX 4 of Dallas-Fort Worth reported.

Officers used a stun gun and pepper spray on the suspect when he became "combative" as police tried to get him out of the vehicle, according to the report.

Responding officers had detected an "overwhelming" scent of alcohol on the driver when he initially drove up to the drop-off area and talked with police, the report said.

Yadauga was charged with driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest and assault on a public servant, according to the report.
