Surveillance video showed moments of panic on a school bus in Texas when it suddenly crashed in a ditch, hurtling screaming students out of their seats.
The Crosby Independent School District released the video of the Sept. 23 crash on Friday. Paramedics rushed 14 students and the driver to the hospital but none of the injuries was life-threatening, the Houston Chronicle reported.
The bus did not appear to have seatbelts. School district officials said 52 middle school and high school students were on board.
The bus driver was distracted and failed to notice a truck ahead of her, forcing her to swerve, investigators said. The driver had 25 years experience but was filling in that day for a different driver, the Chronicle added.
Paramedics carried some of the trapped students out of the bus on a gurney.
"We regret the accident occurred, and we will use this as an opportunity to train and improve for the future," Superintendent Keith Moore said.
Crosby is about 20 miles northeast of Houston.
