BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A body discovered in a remote part of Illinois is not that of missing college student Lauren Spierer, a report said Wednesday.
The skeletal remains found in Newton, Ill., last month belong to an unidentified male, Jasper County Coroner Jason Meyer told The Journal News Wednesday
As of Tuesday, police investigating Spierer's disappearance said they had not ruled out the possibility that the remains were connected to the case, but Capt. Joe Qualters noted that "we've had several of these along the way."
The search for Spierer, a petite 20-year-old from Greenburgh, NY, who disappeared June 3, 2011 after a night spent partying with friends in Bloomington, has entered its tenth month.
Police have spoken with several persons of interest in the case, but no suspects have been named.
