Police say a truck driver suspected of owing $25,000 in unpaid tolls was arrested after being pulled over in Staten Island for driving with an altered license plate.

They say Benjamin McClellan was arrested at the Goethals Bridge after going through the toll plaza without paying Tuesday morning.

Prosecutors said a background check revealed that McClellan had a suspended license for not paying a traffic ticket.

The arrested officer observed that McClellan had used electrical tape to change two numerals on his license plate.

According to the Daily News, officials estimated that McClellan allegedly owes up to $25,000 in unpaid tolls across all five boroughs.

He was arraigned on theft of services, driving without a license and other charges. Information about his lawyer wasn't immediately available.
