Authorities say two men are in custody in connection with a fatal shooting at a Brooklyn subway station at the height of the evening rush hour.

Police say it happened around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on the mezzanine section of the Borough Hall station.

Police identified the victim as 32-year-old Gilbert Drogheo of Harlem.

A friend of the victim and a 69-year-old man identified as a retired correction officer were being questioned Wednesday.

Police say the two friends and the other man got into a dispute aboard a southbound train. They say after the train pulled into the station, the argument turned physical.

Police say the circumstances of the shooting were still being investigated. But they say the retired officer's gun went off during the altercation.
