SEAN HANNITY, HOST (voice-over): Tonight...
DONALD TRUMP, R-N.Y., PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: They see what's happening. There is a movement going on. People are tired of incompetent politicians.
HANNITY: Despite attacks from the media, Donald Trump continues to surge in the polls.
Then, a shocking new undercover video shows a Planned Parenthood executive negotiating prices for fetal parts. The creator of these videos will be here.
JOE DETERS, CINCINNATI PROSECUTOR: This is the most asinine act I've ever seen a police officer make.
HANNITY: And a Cincinnati cop is charged with murder after killing an unarmed man during a traffic stop. Our panel tonight reacts.
And a new book claims that Bill Clinton is cheating on Hillary with a shapely blond mistress. The author is here with all the details.
"Hannity" starts right here, right now.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
HANNITY: And welcome to "Hannity." Tonight, despite attacks from the liberal media, Donald Trump continues to surge in the polls. Two new polls show that Donald Trump has a sizable lead heading into the first GOP primary debate. He leads with 25 percent in the new Reuters poll, which is more than double Jeb Bush, who comes in second with 12 percent.
Now, Trump also has an edge in the new Quinnipiac University poll, with 20 percent compared to Governor Scott Walker's 13 percent and Jeb Bush's 10 percent.
Joining us now. The author of "The Queen: The Epic Ambition of Hillary and the Second Coming -- and the Coming of Second Clinton Era," nationally syndicated radio host Hugh Hewitt, and The Washington Times's Charlie Hurt.
Hugh, I know you've been a bit of a critic of Donald Trump. I would think, though, knowing you as much as I know you, that you understand where this is coming from, that he is speaking his mind. He's politically incorrect. He's bringing attention to issues in a way that Republicans have been far too weak and timid to deal with. I'm sure you get that aspect of it, right?
HUGH HEWITT, RADIO TALK SHOW HOST: Oh, I do. And I was very critical of the comments about Senator McCain, Sean. But I will say this, and I think it's true about everyone in the race on both sides of the aisle and of all the presidential candidates for the past many years. Donald Trump is the only one about whom it is likely there will be a Broadway musical made.
(LAUGHTER)
HEWITT: And that's that he is. He is actually -- I've never said that before, but it occurred to me on vacation. I've been on vacation for a couple of weeks. He's vastly entertaining.
I got an e-mail from him two days ago. I asked him to be my show tonight when I got back from vacation. And he sent me a fax note. "Hugh, can't do it. I'll do it next week. I'm in England at Turnberry" -- parens -- "which I own," close parens, "watching the ladies British Open."
And I thought, Well, that's so Donald. And he's endlessly entertaining. And today he told the -- a Washington Post focus group that Chris Cillizza reported on, said to the focus group, told John Heilemann of) Bloomberg. He's most like us.
Now, he's a billionaire. He's actually not like many of us at all.
HANNITY: No, but that's not what they're talking -- they're not talking about the money!
HEWITT: Exactly.
HANNITY: They're talking about outspoken! When you're with your friends, do you monitor your every word? Has it been prepared by some political advisers? You know, he's raw. He's real. It's genuine. It's authentic, and refreshing, in this day and age of politically pre-calculated sound bites.
That's what they're saying. They're not talking about how much money he has.
(CROSSTALK)
HEWITT: ... it won't last. I don't think it'll last, but I'm skeptical...
CHARLES HURT, WASHINGTON TIMES: But Hugh, I think you've hit on something that's very important about what is driving Donald Trump. It is his creativity. He is an enormously creative guy. And he's a very -- he's very good at marketing, and he thinks of new ways of marketing his campaign.
And do you know what? It works! And it's a breath of fresh air in
politics because nobody else is doing it.
I don't know if you saw the story out today where Donald Trump is going to take his private helicopter out to the Iowa state fairground, and he's going to give free rides to any child seen wearing a "Make America Great Again" cap.
Now, you know, you can say it's goofy.
HEWITT: That's smart.
HURT: You can say it's goofy, but it's brilliant! And so these kids...
(CROSSTALK)
HANNITY: Hey, Charles?
HURT: Yes?
HANNITY: You watch. There's going to be some liberal group that sues, saying he's trying to buy votes with helicopter rides! I guarantee you!
HURT: Oh, I'm sure the government -- the government is going to step in and say that he's not allowed to do it.
HANNITY: Yes.
HURT: But the point is that he gets it! And he's not ashamed of the fact that he's a billionaire. He's taking that and using it as an advantage.
HANNITY: You know...
HURT: And he knows what appeals to people!
HANNITY: Hugh, let me say this to you because I thought Mary Matalin, always been a smart political adviser, consultant, somebody that observes media really well -- she said that every Republican ought to learn from Donald Trump, and I agree with her.
I want to see that level of energy. I want to see the scripts get thrown to the side a little bit. I want to see some genuine passion about getting the country back on the right track, helping out those millions of Americans out of the labor force and poverty and on food stamps. And we're going to take out ISIS and this is how we're going to do it.
That boldness needs to be there if the Republicans are going to win!
HEWITT: Not only should ever Republican learn from him, every broadcaster should because he's the blocking tackle of 2016, right? He's clearing out everything. Now, he makes mistakes. I think he made mistakes with the Mexican remark. He made a terrible mistake by talking about Senator McCain being a captive, he doesn't like people who get captured. He's got to apologize for that. At the same time...
HANNITY: He's not going to apologize, Hugh. That issue's dead!
(CROSSTALK)
HURT: Don't you think that if he had it to do over again, he might have refined some of those statements?
HANNITY: Yes.
HURT: But to his credit -- and I happen to agree with you, Sean. To his credit, I think -- he just says, OK, I'm going to move on from this. I wish I'd said it differently, but I'm going to move on from it and I'm not going to sit here and wring my hands...
HANNITY: You know...
HURT: ... and apologize and try to kowtow to people.
(CROSSTALK)
HEWITT: ... guys. He's most like Teddy Roosevelt, another son of New York. And Teddy Roosevelt he would occasionally say extraordinary things that got him into trouble, but he'd also back up when he did. And I hope he roads a couple of the Roosevelt biographies because I'd love him to run for mayor of New York against de Blasio in a couple years. Wouldn't you like that, Sean?
HANNITY: I think he -- I -- I think he -- if he followed through on his
promises and was serious about governing, I think he could be a great
leader because I think he's inspiring a lot of people, and especially
people that are tired, including me, of Republicans being weak! I'm so
sick of it!
All right, let me ask this. He dealt with two controversies this week. Dealt with The DailyBeast, the Ivana Trump. That was dead and buried within 12 hours, a tribute to him, tribute to his ex-wife and his family.
And a second one was The New York Times going after him, which -- you know, bringing up a lawsuit that he won and even got lawyers' fees for about a woman pulling out a breast pump in the middle of a deposition. And he said, This is disgusting.
Do you -- isn't this a lesson maybe for the other Republicans, as all of the garbage is piled on them by the media, Charles? Just blow it off!
HURT: Absolutely. And it's amazing how, you know, every scandal that, you know -- Democrats skate through scandals all the time and they just move right on. Republicans get mired down in them, and they can't -- it's like kelp. They can't get out from under it, and they spend weeks hand-wringing and apologizing and trying to be something different.
But this guy just -- like you say, he just walks -- keeps walking right on through it, walking through the smoke and the fire, and doesn't let any of it alter his focus on the vision that he is trying to convey. And he does a very good job of conveying in it those simple term that people see. And people understand his vision, and so they forgive him for -- for...
HANNITY: If that op research this week didn't bring him down, I guarantee you both the Daily Beast and The New York Times both thought they had him, Hugh. They thought this was over this week.
HEWITT: They did. But he's got to do is start helping the Republican Party. He's got to go after Hillary now, Sean. If he's serious -- Hillary has been now revealed to have had four different sources of classified information on her server. I'm looking for the Donald to bring the hammer that the Donald has down on Hillary. And I'm looking at Chris Wallace and Megyn Kelly next week. They'll ask hard questions...
(CROSSTALK)
HANNITY: Bret Baier's going to be on the panel, too.
HEWITT: Oh, and Bret Baier. And they'll ask serious questions. I get to do it a couple of weeks later. At that point, Donald Trump is either going to be serious or not serious. And at this point, I'm skeptical...
HANNITY: All right, let me...
(CROSSTALK)
HANNITY: Speaking of Hillary, let's go back to the Quinnipiac poll out today. And again -- this is, like, the seventh or eighth poll that has come out. Is she honest and trustworthy? 57 percent say no. And then the poll on how voters view Hillary Clinton, 51 percent unfavorable. If I'm a Democrat, I'm saying Run, Joe, crazy uncle Joe, run, even though he likes to, apparently -- we'll get into this later, according to Kessler's new book, swim naked in front of female Secret Service agents. But so...
HURT: She's -- she's a -- her -- her favorability is underwater nationally and it is underwater, meaning her unfavorability outpaces her favorability, in Iowa and in New Hampshire by double digits right now! This is like a four-alarm fire for them, or it should be if they were paying attention!
HANNITY: But do they -- all right, so Democrats are panicking. Does Elizabeth Warren get in? Does crazy uncle Joe get in? Does...
HURT: It's crazy uncle Joe, of course.
HEWITT: No, no, it's John Kerry...
HANNITY: Oh, come on!
HEWITT: ... the dreadful candidate, if Hillary goes away, and John Kerry comes back clutching the Iranian agreement and saying peace in our time. Watch for it.
(LAUGHTER)
HANNITY: I voted for the $87 billion before I voted against it.
(LAUGHTER)
HANNITY: We're going to have to live through that nonsense again?
HEWITT: Yes, indeed.
HURT: I say it's Joe Biden. He's -- and I wouldn't be surprised if President Obama doesn't take out the shiv...
HANNITY: Yes.
HURT: ... and put an end to the Clinton dynasty and get behind Joe Biden.
HANNITY: So who would do better, crazy uncle Joe, the skinny dipper, or
Hillary Clinton?
HURT: Joe Biden is a patriot. He is -- he is proud of America. He loves America and he loves people. I don't think you can say -- I don't think those are the first things you'd say about Hillary Clinton.
HANNITY: What do you think, Hugh?
HEWITT: A driver who took me from my -- to the Victoria airport in Canada two days ago said that Joe Biden had been in Calgary. He had a 12-car motorcade just because they wanted to make sure he got back to our country.
I think that Joe Biden has no viability whatsoever. John Kerry is the guy that...
HANNITY: I disagree!
(CROSSTALK)
HANNITY: Kerry's had a shot. I think the person to watch out for -- two people. I think they've aligned together privately. This is a total conspiracy on my part. I think Elizabeth Warren may get into this race with the support of Comrade Bill de Blasio.
HURT: What a doozy.
HANNITY: What a team that'll be!
HURT: What a snoozer.
HEWITT: Just what we need, another Harvard law -- another law professor,
this one from Harvard, Sean!
HANNITY: Yes, all we need is another communist running for -- for -- yes. Obama on steroids. Here we go. We're in trouble. All right, guys, good to see you both.
Coming up next tonight right here on "Hannity"...
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: We don't want to get called you know selling fetal parts across the states.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Neither do we.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: No one wants to get...
(CROSSTALK)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Right. So how do we protect ourselves from...
(CROSSTALK)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: ... from the facts.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HANNITY: A new just released undercover video that shows Planned Parenthood executives were aware of what they were doing. Is it illegal? The creator of that video is next.
And later, a bombshell claim from a new book. Bill Clinton apparently has a blond mistress. The author will give us the details.
Plus, why is the White House is more concerned about the killing of Cecil the lion than the murder of Kate Steinle or the Planned Parenthood videos? That and more as "Hannity" continues.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
(NEWSBREAK)
HANNITY: And welcome back to "Hannity." The Center for Medical Progress has now released another shocking video showing a high-ranking Planned Parenthood executive negotiating the sale price of aborted fetal parts.
We have to warn you once again, this video is very disturbing, contains very graphic material. But we think it's important to show you. Take a look.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You know, when you get to 17, 18 weeks, because we do some of those. That’s when you’re doing a lot more of a D&E, and you get -- so that's where we have to do a little bit of training on the providers, so making sure they didn't crush or were able to...
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: So it's a matter of just training, it sounds like, to providers.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: So I feel like if you’re talking to other Planned Parenthood’s, we sort of all have to be on the same page.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Right.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Almost to the point where we have to disclose to each other that we're all doing this...
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Interesting.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: ... so if anyone gets called out or runs with it that we're all, like, Oh, I didn't know you were doing this. Oh, I'm doing this, too. Oh, you know -- we have to be -- I think we have to be coordinated with each other.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: And to keep the stories straight.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes. Well, and to make sure that we're all saying the same thing...
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Right.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: ... and that the CEOs are all saying the same thing.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Right.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HANNITY: And joining me now from the Center for Medical Progress is -- David Daleiden is back with us.
All right, so you're responsible for this. But yet yesterday, you had a court literally in California blocking the release of new videos. First, your response to that, and then we'll talk about the video.
DAVID DALEIDEN, CENTER FOR MEDICAL PROGRESS: Right. So the temporary restraining order from the court in California yesterday was actually very, very limited. And it is only in reference to an alleged recording of a very specific meeting with the leadership of Stem Express in northern California, which is one of the -- one of the major middlemen biotech companies that's partnered with the most number of Planned Parenthood clinics around the country.
HANNITY: Yes. What really was shocking in this -- I think in the second video, it was, Oh, I want to buy a Lamborghini. There's all the haggling for prices -- in each one of the videos, they have a discussion of price. They have specific discussions about parts and even procedures that he (ph) used. I want a Lamborghini.
In this one, Oh, it is another boy that they're dissecting. How is it possible that people act the way they do? They sip wine, they eat fru-fru salad, they talk about buying Lamborghinis from the money from the body parts. I'm wondering, where is the conscience of these people? Did you ever get the feeling that anyone is aware of what they're actually doing?
DALEIDEN: You know, some of them are. And actually, it's really interesting. This is why -- where it really is important to sometimes watch the full conversations, things that weren't covered so much in the past couple of weeks. Deb Nucatola, the senior director of medical services for Planned Parenthood, who was in the first video sipping wine and talking about partial-birth abortions -- you know, she had an interesting comment toward the end of that conversation, though. She was talking about how before becoming an abortion doctor, she wanted to do maternal fetal medicine. And she said because believe it or not, I actually like babies.
And it's funny. You know, who was she trying to convince when she said that, you know, not -- not the investigators. You know, we were posing as people who were as deep in abortion as she was.
I think she was trying to convince herself. And there were similar actions in the full footage that will be released very shortly with Dr. Ginde from Colorado. You could feel the wave of sadness kind of -- kind of wash -- coming off of her when she walked into the path lab after doing 10 or 12
abortions that day and was pretty agitated, picking through the dishes, looking for the different body parts.
So there is some conscience still there, but there's a lot of powerful ideological, psychological and financial factors, frankly, that keep people in the abortion industry and keep it going.
HANNITY: When -- when -- in this particular new video, I think a per item thing works a little better just we can see how much we can get out of it -- it's illegal to sell those parts, is it not?
DALEIDEN: Yes.
HANNITY: That's an admission of a crime.
DALEIDEN: It's completely illegal. It's completely illegal. And the really interesting thing I think about the Colorado footage that we put out today is that you can -- what -- what it really illustrates is -- is the -- is behind the scenes, the reality of the coordinated cover-up going on in Planned Parenthood that's playing out right now before our eyes in the media as they try to get away from the fact that they're selling the body parts of aborted babies and that that's illegal.
You don't their vice president and medical director, Dr. Ginde, of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains -- you don't hear her in the tape ever say that she's concerned following the law or about doing what's right. You hear her say that she's concerned about not getting caught and about not getting called on selling body parts.
HANNITY: Let me go back to what this Ginde doctor says out of Colorado in this latest tape that you reveal. Sometimes, if we get -- if someone delivers before we get to them for a procedure, then we are intact. And then they're talking about second trimester abortions. We'd have to do a little bit of training with the providers or something to make sure that they don't crush.
It sounds to me like it's almost -- they're describing infanticide at that point!
DALEIDEN: Yes. That's exactly right, Sean, and that's -- that was one of the very chilling moments of the site visit that our investigators because a lot of people don't realize this, but if you're doing -- if you're a facility does a high volume of second trimester abortions, just based on the -- based on different patient characteristics and how certain patients respond to the -- to the -- the preparation protocols for a second trimester abortion, it's not uncommon that you'll have live births and precipitous deliveries before the abortion procedure happens.
So it happens occasionally, and those are born live infants, and yes, that's infanticide.
HANNITY: Now, there's awareness of the crime which you picked up in this latest tape here, where they -- you can hear them protecting themselves from getting caught on the issue of selling the fetal parts. Let's roll this for our audience.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: How confident are you with your attorney’s work that you’ve seen? They're building many layers so that they are making it difficult?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: He's got it figured out that he knows that even if-- because we talked to him in the beginning. We're, like, we don't want to get called on, you know, selling fetal parts across the states.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Neither do we.
(LAUGHTER)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: No one wants to get...
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Right. So how do we protect ourselves from...
(CROSSTALK)
HANNITY: How do we protect ourselves, talking about the lawyers, full understanding that what they are doing is illegal.
DALEIDEN: Right. Right. And actually...
HANNITY: Where -- where is the attorney general on this?
DALEIDEN: I know. Good question. Good question. I mean, there's 10 different states that are investigating Planned Parenthood now and three different congressional committees. So hopefully, that will -- you know, that'll move forward and we'll start to get some answers as to exactly how deep and pervasive the law-breaking really is within Planned Parenthood.
But that -- that -- that kind of -- that kind of attitude to try to hold yourself above the law and just completely disregard and find every way around it possible -- that comes from the top level down of Planned Parenthood's litigation and law department.
Roger Evans (ph), who actually sent a letter about the Center for Medical Progress to the congressional committees investigating Planned Parenthood now -- he was00 he gave an entire presentation at the Planned Parenthood national meeting just a few months ago in D.C., in March, on how the skirt the federal law on fetal tissue sales, saying, I think this is a good idea, guys. You should go for it. But these are the ways to do it.
HANNITY: All right. We're going to continue to show these videos as you release them, even though many in the media -- they have given more coverage in one day to Cecil the lion than they have to this issue and these tapes. And we applaud what you're doing. And I hope they finally defund this organization. This is grotesque, barbaric and gruesome. Thank you so much.
DALEIDEN: Thanks, Sean.
HANNITY: Coming up, a new book claims Bill Clinton has had a blond mistress and that the Clintons are only keeping their marriage together for another shot at the White House.
Then tonight, is the killing of Cecil the lion more important to the White House than the murder of Kate Steinle and the American hostages or these Planned Parenthood tapes? Well, it sure looks that way. Our panel will react.
And a police officer charged with murder after shooting an unarmed man. We'll show you exactly what happened. We have the videotape.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HANNITY: Welcome back to "Hannity." Tonight, well, there could be more trouble headed Hillary Clinton's way. A new book claims that Bill Clinton has a blond mistress known as "the energizer" who visits the Clintons' New York home while Hillary's away. It also details what Hillary Clinton is really like when she's not pretending to be the voice of the American people.
Joining me now, New York Times best-selling author, now available in paperback, "The First Family Detail: Secret Service Agents Reveal the Hidden Lives of the Presidents, Ronald Kessler is with us.
Mr. Kessler, sir, how are you?
RONALD KESSLER, "THE FIRST FAMILY DETAIL" AUTHOR: Hey, good to be with you, Sean.
HANNITY: Blond, busty, mistress named "the energizer." Wow!
KESSLER: The reason she's named "the energizer" is that the first letter of the code names for each family begin with the same letter. So in the case of the Clintons, Bill is eagle, Hillary is evergreen, and therefore, they -- that is, the Secret Service agents decided to call the mistress "energizer" and...
HANNITY: All right. It's viewed as a punishment, though, to get on Hillary's detail, and that the Secret Service loved the energizer because she's nice to them, bakes them cookies. And Hillary is mean to them. Is that accurate?
KESSLER: Well, Hillary is not only mean, she's nasty. She's abusive. Being assigned to her detail is considered a form of punishment by Secret Service agents. It's the worst assignment in the Secret Service, which tells you a lot about the character of this individual.
If you knew someone like that, you would have nothing to do with them! You would never hire that person. You would never be a friend of that person. And yet Hillary is running for president. So this is something that the Secret Service has to put up with. But it tells you a lot about character.
And if we ignore character, we're going to suffer the consequences, as happened, for example, with Richard Nixon. There was the Checkers episode, an ethics episode before he was elected, and sure enough, we got Watergate.
HANNITY: Yes. A couple of other notes here because you talked to a lot of the Secret Service agents. And by the way, I have my Secret Service agent pin. I have a lot of respect for these guys. I know that some of them came under fire, but the vast majority of them, they're willing to take a bullet to protect our leaders, which I admire greatly.
Joe Biden likes to swim naked in front of female Secret Service agents? That's creepy, really creepy!
KESSLER: Talk about a war on women. Biden likes to swim nude both at his vice president's residence in Washington and also at his home in Wilmington, which he goes back to several times a week, all at our expense, by the way, a million dollars in Air Force Two expenses. And this offends female Secret Service agents. You know, they sign up to take a bullet for the president, as you've said...
HANNITY: So crazy uncle Joe...
KESSLER: ... but they didn't...
HANNITY: ... is getting naked in front of female agents? He's -- so he's a creep?
KESSLER: Yes.
HANNITY: You're basically saying he's a pervert.
KESSLER: Well, they certainly didn't sign up to see Biden naked. And it is offensive, it's abusive. And it's in this book, "The First Family .Detail." But of course, the press doesn't want to touch it.
HANNITY: Well, you know, you're sourcing this book. How many sources did you have for that particular story?
KESSLER: Several who have firsthand knowledge of what happened and this continuing problem.
HANNITY: And he doesn't want the -- he doesn't want the nuclear football within a mile of him? What happens if we have a national emergency?
KESSLER: That's right. This is the most outrageous thing of all. The nuclear football contains the codes to unleash a retaliatory nuclear strike on the event that we're hit by another country. And if Obama is taken out, Biden would have to unleash these codes.
But he insists when he goes back to Wilmington several times a week that the military aide with the football remain at least a mile behind his motorcade. He wants to have this image of a regular Joe. He's a man of the people. So he doesn't want to have a long motorcade.
But of course, the result is, even if there were no traffic, the military aide with the football could not catch up to Biden in time. And so we are totally defenseless in a situation like that.
HANNITY: What about this conversation that Secret Service agents relayed to you about Michelle Obama talking to Barack about racial issues in America?
KESSLER: Agents have been dismayed to overhear Michelle urge her husband not only to attack Republicans more aggressively, but also to side with blacks in racial controversies, which, of course, we've seen him do over and over again.
HANNITY: All right. Pretty -- pretty scary. It's all happening here. And I don't know. That's just bizarre. All right, sir. Thank you. Appreciate it.
KESSLER: Thank you.
HANNITY: The White House is now showing concern for death of Cecil the lion. They didn't seem to care much about the murder of Kate Steinle or the American hostages that they could have negotiated the release for or they didn't really seem to care that much about the Planned Parenthood videos. Our panel will react coming up later.
And then also, an Ohio cop charged with murder after shooting an unarmed man. The officer claims it was self-defense. We have his bodycam video. We'll show it to you, and you get to decide.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
SEAN HANNITY, FOX NEWS HOST: Welcome back to HANNITY. Tonight the outrage over the killing of Cecil the lion is so intense that the dentist who admitted to hunting the animal is reportedly receiving police protection. Now, the dentist, Walter Palmer, could also be in trouble with the U.S. authorities because earlier today the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced they're investigating the incident.
Here now with reaction are "Animal Planet's" large predator expert Dave Salmoni is with us, also criminal defense attorney Rebecca Rose Woodland and "OUTNUMBERED" co-host Jedediah Bila.
All right, wait a minute, they're not going to secure the border after Kate Steinle. They won't investigate the tapes of Planned Parenthood where obviously laws are broken, you're an attorney, right? But the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will go after this dentist in Minnesota who killed an animal in Zimbabwe? Help me out.
REBECCA ROSE WOODLAND, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Well, it was an illegal poaching. Zimbabwe has already arrested the others people who were involved as guides. And there is an extradition treaty that could place this man in danger of being extradited to Zimbabwe.
HANNITY: Great. And he might get 15 years in jail. Now, he spent $50,000. He got the license to hunt. If you don't like the laws of Zimbabwe, don't follow them, I would say the responsibility lies with the guides considering I doubt the Minnesota dentist knows much about what's going on in Zimbabwe.
WOODLAND: I called some people at Safari Club International and they said known hunters, and he's a big game hunter that has done this before, they would know better. They would be tracking the location knowing that he was on a national preserve. He was like at the edge of Yellowstone.
HANNITY: I'm not buying it he knew exactly where the lion was. I'm not buying it. I doubt he knew that this was the beloved lion.
WOODLAND: I don't know, Sean. The way these people have explained it to me is when you go out let's say to Tanzania and hunt a lion, which it is legal there if you buy the proper permits, that the lions in the wild are very, very dangerous. This is obvious. This lion was just lured out as if he was someone's housecat.
HANNITY: Let me ask you this. The president, Kate Steinle, he doesn't fix our immigration problem. You see these Planned Parenthood videos, they're despicable. They're going after the people that shot the video, not the people on the video breaking the law. OK, but they're going to make the
bigger deal about Cecil the lion. What does that say about --
JEDEDIAH BILA, "OUTNUMBERED" CO-HOST: My response is they should be doing it all. I think they should be investigating it. I do think something happened. I don't know what you're doing. He is making some kind of gesture.
Something doesn't sound right about this to me in terms of the way this lion was lured out of the park. I don't really buy the story that this guy didn't know what was going on. Maybe it's so. We'll find out. But there's no reason why because you prioritize one thing you have to completely not look at another. So they should be looking at Planned Parenthood. He should be commenting on Kate Steinle. He should be talking about all these important things. But this is important too. If there was a law that was violated here, I think that they have a right to investigate it all.
HANNITY: So a lion over the line is OK. But a lion within the reserve is not OK.
BILA: The way that they lured him out, putting the dead animal on the car. And then the way this lion --
HANNITY: But I blame the two guys.
(CROSSTALK)
HANNITY: You're the expert. What do you say?
DAVE SALMONI, ANIMAL PLANET'S LARGE PREDATOR EXPERT: Yes. Obviously, if we're not talking about the morals and ethics of trophy hunting, we're just talking legalities, there are a lot of things that come into hunting these guys. To get your permit to actually legally hunt the lion, the land owner has to prove that that lion is on his land and it's enclosed with a gaming fence and it's been there for more than 30 days. Now whether they did that or didn't do that, obviously we weren't there. We don't know.
The other thing that would cause alarm besides the fact they were close to a national park, besides the fact that they baited this animal across is the fact that the animal is also tracked so it has a big, big collar around its neck. So even if everything else fails and you claim your ignorance all the way around, at some point if you're close enough to shoot with it a bow, you're close enough to see this big collar and say what they heck is that.
HANNITY: Wasn't it at night?
SALMONI: If it was at night he had to have some sort of vision otherwise he's shooting blindly. So they use spotlights. But on top of that, if there is a big spotlight on the lion, absolutely you will see this big collar.
HANNITY: Let me go back to Jedediah. Mia Farrow literally tweeted out the dentist's home address. You've got these people that have now shut down this man's business. I understand people's reaction to the lion. I wonder how many of the people that are so outraged hire assassins to kill their cows that they can eat their steak with or kill their chickens or kill their turkeys or the fishermen that kill their fish. I think there is a little bit of hypocrisy. What's the difference between a cow and a chicken and a turkey?
BILA: She shouldn't have tweeted out that information. That's horrific. That's like saying something inhumane happened here so I'm going to respond to that inhumane behavior with more inhumane behavior, which you know when you do something like this you are going to invite people who are inclined to be violent to go and either destroy his business or cause harm to him. And that's not the answer to this. If this bothers you because you feel that there was an injustice done, then you don't respond to that injustice with more injustice.
HANNITY: So here's the question. There has been more coverage in the media of Cecil the lion in 24 hours than two weeks’ worth of videotapes showing the corruption of Planned Parenthood. What does that say about the media in this country?
WOODLAND: It says something that I'm so uncomfortable with it. They did a survey and people in this country said, 53 percent said it's OK. It's OK that Planned Parenthood is actually breaking the law. That is the law they're breaking. We're not talking about abortion. We're talking about body parts being sold. That's illegal.
HANNITY: So they can buy Lamborghinis.
WOODLAND: Exactly, for personal growth and personal profit. They're not putting that money back into medical research.
HANNITY: So our federal government will look into the Cecil the lion issue. They're not going to look into the Planned Parenthood case except to go after the people that exposed it.
BILA: But there's a reason for that, because people in this country have been desensitized on the abortion issue. When you talk about this issue about the lion, people are looking at a lion. They're empathizing --
HANNITY: They went to see "The Lion King." They went to see "Bambi."
BILA: Right. Exactly. When they talk about abortion, they've been told this is a clump of cells. This isn't a human life form. They're not thinking in terms of a baby.
(CROSSTALK)
HANNITY: For all the people out there, and I want everyone to ask themselves a question. If you're upset over the lion being killed, are you eating steak tonight? Do you have fish on your table tonight. Do you have chicken? Do you have turkey at Thanksgiving.
SALMONI: You keep bringing up this food fact. But the reality is nobody in trophy hunting is actually eating a lion. All that is to show off to your friends when you get home. If you were doing that on Twitter, you're shooting a deer and the population needs to be managed to some degree --
HANNITY: You say that. But you know what, I don't want to put an ugly lion's head in my den. That's the last thing I want. But other people have different tastes than I do.
SALMONI: No one eats the lion. It is not the same thing. No one is outraged about regular hunting, or some people might, but trophy hunting is so egregious it is just a matter --
HANNITY: Teddy Roosevelt is going to be in trouble because he has all those mounted animals in his place --
BILA: Even the issue of trophy hunting, even if you condone that, which I'm not a huge fan of, to be honest, but if you did, you would still look at the way this guy did it and you would say this lion was hit, 40 hours he was wondering around before he died, probably undergoing a lot of suffering. He was lured out with a dead animal. This is not going on sit right with a lot of people even if you support the hunting --
HANNITY: The same people that might be putting a little salt and pepper on
their steak right now.
BILA: Even so, because I eat steak.
HANNITY: So you hire assassins to kill your animals.
BILA: Not to kill lions and clearly not to lure them out of their territory.
HANNITY: You go to your local supermarket and you buy it in a little packet. You've hired an assassin to kill a cow.
BILA: Not to do it like this.
HANNITY: It's hot to kill your animal. You hire assassins, Jedediah Bila. You hire assassins to kill your food.
BILA: That's not true.
WOODLAND: What this was for was basically what Dave was saying. It's basically just for a trophy on the wall. And it wasn't illegally procured. We're not even arguing about hunting being right or wrong because it is legal in this country in certain locations.
HANNITY: It's legal in Zimbabwe.
WOODLAND: But not the way they did it.
HANNITY: Not in this case, but I blame the guides because they're ones that know the terrain, not the hunter.
WOODLAND: We'll see if he knew or didn't know.
HANNITY: What, are we going to put this guy in jail? They want to put him in jail for 15 years.
WOODLAND: Well, he has a defense. Let him mount it. Let him mount it the way he mounted the lion on the wall.
HANNITY: The next time I see you eating steak I'm going to mount the head of the cow --
BILA: That is a different debate.
HANNITY: No, it is not.
(CROSSTALK)
HANNITY: You want it to be a different debate because it justifies you eating steak, chicken, turkey and fish.
BILA: This is about the humanity about the way it was executed, not the hunting.
WOODLAND: And it is not for consumption.
HANNITY: You eat bacon, too, don't you?
BILA: I don't. I eat turkey bacon, though.
HANNITY: Kill a dead turkey, hire an assassin to kill your turkey.
BILA: Not like this.
HANNITY: Up next on tonight on HANNITY --
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
JOSEPH DETERS, CINCINNATI PROSECUTOR: I've been doing this for over 30 years. This is the most asinine act I've ever seen a police officer make.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HANNITY: A Cincinnati police officer charged with murder after shooting an unarmed man during a traffic stop. The entire incident caught on his body camera. We're going to show you the video. We'll get your reaction and our panel's reaction next.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HANNITY: Welcome back to HANNITY. A University of Cincinnati police officer has been charged with the murder and faces life in prison for killing an unarmed man during a traffic stop earlier this month. Now, the cop, Ray Tensing was arraigned earlier today. He pled not guilty. The incident has been heavily scrutinized and was captured on a body camera. As you see the victim disobeys the orders of the officer to take off his seatbelt and instead turns on his car. This is when the cop yelled "Stop!" before pulling out his weapon and firing the final shot. The officer says he acted in self-defense over fear that he would be run over. Two other officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave.
Here with reaction, criminal defense attorney Eric Guster, former NYPD detective Bo Dietl, FOX News contributor David Webb. All right, let's roll this video. Let's roll it slowly. And as we're showing it, again, I want to you explain, Bo, from your perspective what you see is going on here.
You hear the conversation. What are your thoughts on what's going on and what the officer did?
BO DIETL, FORMER NYPD DETECTIVE: He obviously pulled him over. He's asking for a license. It's a conversation. Now all of a sudden as the car is there, he closes the car door. Now the cops reacts. And again, he starts to drive away. He shoots him first. I don't really hear the shot when the shot actually happened.
You know, a lot of times I come up here, Sean, there things for me to stand up for the cops. But this incident, the incident that occurred in Carolina when the guy shot him in the back, I mean, this is tough to have any kind of defense for what I see. I see something that the guy wasn't trained very well. And then, also, now, they suspended two other guys, other cops.
HANNITY: They shouldn't. That's not their fault.
DIETL: No. No. But they might have supported him. He said he was dragged or the car was going to hit him, and they might have supported that contention until the cameras came out.
HANNITY: Maybe they thought that.
DIETL: They had cameras.
HANNITY: At the end of the day I say I want body cameras, but there is a
slight risk that the cameras don't tell the whole story sometimes.
DIETL: If I may, the only thing I really wanted to say, and I came on because I know this is a bad one, all I've got to say every one of these bad shootings like this, and this is a bad shooting, now the cops that are out there trying to do their jobs, every time they do their jobs they're going to be second guessed and questioned about what they did.
HANNITY: David?
DAVID WEBB, FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: I'm with Bo on this one. I've looked at this over and over. It doesn't matter what this guy did. At some point, whether he's belligerent, argumentative or refusing, whatever, even if he drove away, there is other actions, but pulling out the gun and shooting him, I think Bo is right. You've got bad training. You've got a 25-year-old young cop, basically a guy that's trained a little bit above what seems to be a university campus police with a gun. And this makes it so much tougher in a bad environment already where the police are constantly under scrutiny that it doesn't do any good for this.
HANNITY: Eric, put on your criminal justice hat. You're defending the cop in this case. What would your argument be?
ERIC GUSTER, CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY: I have a case that Bo and David agree with. Now you want me to defend the cop, Sean?
HANNITY: Everybody deserves a defense. What would you say?
GUSTER: Everybody does deserve a defense.
HANNITY: You're a good lawyer. That's why I'm asking you.
GUSTER: What his lawyers may do -- first all this guy needs to go to prison for a very long time, but what his lawyers may do is try to put a jury in the seat of him and say, well, he was fearful for whatever ridiculous reason and see if someone will buy it. But there is no defense. There is simply no defense. This cop was wrong. He was hotheaded, and he got angry that --
HANNITY: But the strange thing is, Eric, he didn't sound that hotheaded on the tape leading up to that. He didn't sound like he was losing his temper. He sounded like he was slightly annoyed.
(CROSSTALK)
WEBB: I think anger played a big part in this. You have got a confrontation between two young men essentially. And it heats up and then they move. I mean, it moves on, it escalates.
DIETL: You're right.
GUSTER: He's driving away. The cop was nowhere near his car, nowhere near getting hit, and then they lied about.
DIETL: Eric, and this doesn't outweigh this terrible, terrible crime, which I'll call it a crime. The fact is if he sat there for people to comply with the police, that is what I'm getting at. Let's all try and just listen to the cop.
GUSTER: Oh, my gosh.
DIETL: This doesn't outweigh the shooting. But should he just have driven away from him, the cop. Eric, is it right for him to drive away from the cop? That's not right.
GUSTER: What was right is the cop already had his tag. He should have followed the guy home, chased him down, then arrested him. That is all he had to do. He already had the information. He already knew exactly who this guy was.
DIETL: I'm not sticking up for the shooting. I'm talking about communication. Communication between cops and people they're stopping. Respect back and forth.
HANNITY: We're going to leave it there.
GUSTER: Yes. Respect and don't shoot people in the face. That is the level of respect people deserve.
WEBB: I think we all agree this looks like a really bad shooting. And it's not going to help a really bad climate already for other officers who have to do their jobs.
HANNITY: When we come back -- thank you, guys -- we need your help. A very-important "Question of the Day" straight ahead.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
HANNITY: Welcome back to HANNITY. It's time for tonight's "Question of the Day." So should the Center for Medical Progress ignore the court order and release more videos? We want your thoughts. Go to Facebook.com/SeanHannity, @SeanHannity on Twitter, let us know what you think.
